CREATIVE WRITING WITH PAUL PERRY

‘New Work’ Workshop for Poetry and Fiction Writers

‘The morning’s the size of heaven
what will you do with it?’
- Mark Doty.

Paul´s ‘New Work’ workshop will focus on the creation of new work through the use of writing exercises and assignments in both poetry and fiction.

Generating New Work
Early mornings will be devoted to the writing of new work with directed
assignments.

Learning to edit
In the early afternoon session we will workshop the new work
with constructive criticism.

Finding your ‘Voice’
The workshop will aim to create a supportive environment while investigating and developing the notion of a ‘voice’ for each author.

Individual Attention
Workshop participants will also have a chance throughout the course for individual one-on-one sessions with Paul to discuss their work, its strength and weaknesses, and strategies for improving it.

Review of Work-in-Progress
Participants may bring some examples of work-in-progress, but the main focus of the four days will be the making of new work while in Tarifa.

The World of Publishing
We will also discuss the practicalities of publishing and appropriate ways to submit work for publication.

Go Home Inspired
After your stay in Tarifa, The New Work Workshop will ensure that you will go home with at least the early drafts of new poems and stories.
