Are You The Next Chris Stewart?

FNAC announce winner of IN THE WRITE LIGHT writing competition

The winner of the IN THE WRITE LIGHT/FNAC summer 2008 writing competition, ‘Are You The Next Chris Stewart?’ has been chosen and will be announced at FNAC Store, La Canada, Marbella at 12.00 pm next Thursday 17th of July.

The competition invited writers to submit either a short story or poem on the theme of moving to or living in Spain.

The winning entry, ‘Trianna: A State of Mind’ by Debora Garber, tells the story of Debora’s early days in Seville. Irish by origin, Debora has been a Costa del Sol resident for thirty years. Debora wins a free place on the September IN THE WRITE LIGHT workshop with Paul Perry.

On hearing of her win, she said, ‘I love Chris’s work and met him once many years ago. I am thrilled to win this competition and cannot wait to develop this story at Paul Perry’s workshop this September in Tarifa. It’s an amazing prize that allows me to combine my two loves, Spain and writing.’

In second place, came Alisa Cook’s short story, ‘If Wishes Were Horses’. Alisa’s prize is donated by FNAC.

Both Debora and Alisa will be present for the award ceremony next Thursday at FNAC, as will Marketing Manger of FNAC, Juan Luis Artacho and director of IN THE WRITE LIGHT, Natasha Smith.
