Fawlty Fincas B&B farm is the venue for IN THE WRITE LIGHT workshops, selected because of its tranquil location in a lush valley two kilometres outside Tarifa.

A private and self-sufficient farm hidden away in the hills behind the town, it is the polar opposite of urban living.

The complex consists a farmhouse, two rustic cottages, and three Bedouin tents with adjoining bathrooms. Erected on concrete foundations, draped in oriental rugs, furnished with hand-carved Indian and Pakistani beds, tables and chairs; to stay in a Bedouin tent is to evoke imaginings of a Babylonian era.

This is natural living but in style. Dispel any notions of roughing it; a Bedouin tent is more boutique chalet than safari stop-off.

Breakfast will be served each morning on the roofless patio of the farmhouse. Fresh orange juice, hot croissants, cereals and coffee.

Classes are held in the adjacent large salon. The thick stone walls keep the room cool in the morning sun.

Participants will have plenty of time to explore the varied landscape around the farm or to simply sit, enjoy its tranquillity and write.

A selection of lunch and evening meals will also be served at Fawlty Fincas, where the fare will be made up of ethnic vegetarian cooking, a speciality of the host, Carole.

While IN THE WRITE LIGHT provides the content to develop your writing skills, Fawlty Fincas provides the haven, maybe the muse and certainly beautiful memories of the Costa de la Luz landscape and a unique way of life.

Its roof terrace is perfect for small IN THE WRITE LIGHT groups, we use this sun-lighted area for class.

The hotel rooms are all en suite; there are both double rooms and twin rooms. It is possible to use either for an individual. Obviously all are suitable for couples. Groups can also be accommodated.
